On June 15 and 16, at the Sveta Petka area near the village of Chavdar, the third edition of the Board Game Festival will take place. This was announced by Tsvetina Lungarova on the show "The Person in Focus" on Radio "Focus".
The festival is held outdoors. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments, join discussions, and get acquainted with board games produced in Bulgaria.
Mihail Lungarov added that many volunteers are also involved in organizing the festival. "The municipality is behind us and supports us in every way. The venue is specially organized by the municipality for all kinds of cultural activities. Opposite the stage, there is a covered area with tables and benches and two festival tents," he said.
The place offers a 360-degree view, and you can see the Stara Planina and Sredna Gora mountains.
Attendance at the festival in previous years has been between 500 and 700 people.
"The board game festival unites the community so that everyone can share this interest together. We have games provided by partners and sponsors, and we strive to showcase games that are currently in the spotlight. Many of them also participate in the tournament format. At the same time, anyone who wishes can bring a game and play it there with friends or meet new people to play with," explained Mihail Lungarov.
Every year, several thousand new board games appear on the market in various categories. "The lightest games are intended for those new to the hobby. Then we move on to so-called family games, which are for those who have already tried the previous category and want to take a step further. Strategic games are the largest and most complex in terms of mechanics and rules and can take hours to play," Lungarov explained.
He shared that he likes strategic and adventure games where the theme is strongly embedded in the game's mechanics.
Tsvetina Lungarova emphasized that short forms of content deprive users of the ability to build abstract mental constructions on several levels and to delve deeply and analytically into the subject matter. "We are starting to lose this skill en masse. I believe that board games are a saving form in this regard," she added.
