Цветина и Мишо за Board Game Fest Чавдар

Tsvetina and Mihail Lungarov: The Board Games Festival unites the community

On 15 and 16 June in the area of St. Petka near the village of Chavdar will be held the third edition of the Board Games Festival. This is what Tsvetina Lungarova said in the "The man in focus" on Radio "Focus.".

The festival is held outdoors. Visitors will have the opportunity to play in tournaments, participate in discussions, learn about domestically produced board games.

Mihail Lungarov added that many volunteers are involved in the organization of the festival. "The municipality is behind us and supports us in every way. The place is specially organized by the municipality for any kind of cultural activity. There is a covered area opposite the stage with tables and benches and two festival tents," he said.

The place has a 360-degree view, the Balkan Mountains and the Sredna Gora can be seen.

Festival attendance in previous years has been between 500 and 700 people.

"The Board Games Festival brings the community together so that everyone can share this interest together. We have secured games from partners and sponsors, we stick to showing games that are the focus of attention right now. Many of them are also involved in tournament form. At the same time, anyone who wants to can bring a game and play there with friends or meet people to play with," explained Mihail Lungarov.

Every year, several thousand new board games appear on the market in a variety of categories. "The easiest games are designed for those new to the hobby. Then we go through the so-called family games, which are for those who have already tried the previous category and want to upgrade a step. Strategy games are the biggest, deepest in terms of mechanics and rules and can take hours to play," explained Lungarov.

He said that he likes strategy and adventure games where the theme is strongly embedded in the game mechanics.

Tsvetina Lungarova stressed that the short forms of content deprive users of the skills to build an abstract mental construction on several levels and to enter deeply and analytically into the issues. "We are starting to lose this en masse as a skill. I think the board games are a lifesaver in this respect," she added.
